Feedy - RSS Client App Reviews

Great Idea, Poor Execution

Quits randomly, does not share to pocket, pretty much unusable

nope…there are better alternatives

The design is neat and uncluttered. But this app has some major drawbacks. 1. Its not possible to import lists as opml, so you have to put in the feeds manually. Thats a bit disapointing and outdated. 2. Some feeds cant be found. Ghostly international e.g.. I hadnt had that problem with any other rss reader. 3. When in window to actually reed a feed, you cant get to the next feed by a shortcut, y have to close to window and klick the next feed from the list. Its cheap, but has less features than free apps.

Nice

but I really miss OPML import of my feeds to get away from google reader. Developers should integrate OPML Import and this reader would be a great app with alot of eye candy.

Nett, simply to use, but ...

Only 2 points, otherwise as good as Reeder with 5 stars! 1. Why 2 windows? Really like the way Reeder does. Two windows disturb reading. 2. I miss the function of "Read It Later", like interfaces with Pocket, Evernote, etc. Appreciate continuing development and improvement.

update needed

A very cute and nice app. But it would have been better with: 1. Feedly integration 2. At least OPML import 3. integration with Evernote

Does what it says

Its an overall nice looking app and its fast loading the subscriptions. No place to enter in your twitter and facebook feeds so dont understand why it was put there. There is no login ability for readability where I have an account so not sure what the app author was referring to.

Strong first version

I like this app because I prefer not to read each story in each feed, but rather scroll through an aggregated list of stories from all feeds and pick and choose what seems interesting. This app supports that pretty well, and I like the interface. I do wish I could open two stories at once in different windows, and there are a few feeds (likely broken feeds) that Feedy doesnt parse as well as other apps. That said, I think this is a strong 4 star app, and look forward to future versions and development.

Good, but crashes

it’s a very good app…as long as it works. Crashes way too often on mavericks 10.9.5! and also the scrolling while reading the news is pretty buggy..

Fast, thoughtfully done

The interface is fast, fun to use, and tweak-able. It would be great to have a quicker way of going to the next article while in the "viewing/reading" window. Also, Google Reader sync and subscription import would be welcome additions.

Looks great, pain to transition to

The app looks great. However, I subscribe to many feeds. Resubscribing to each one by hand is a pain and is preventing me from transitioning to the app. Having the option to import subscriptions through OPML or integrating to Google Reader would make it much easier to get started with the app.

Ok, but...

This has some goofy quirks that make it less than desirable. Whenever I open one of the stories from the main window, sometimes no images show up whatsoever in the resulting window. Also, where are sharing options? I have to take extra steps to open the story in a browser, then choose a sharing option from there.

Great App!

Clean, good-looking interface, and a good news app. Would like google reader support, but other than that, its perfect.

Finding an Unread Article

Took a flyer on this app, looking to replace Reeder until it comes back from the dead. Ive spend only a few hours with this app so far... Indeed, if you have more that 5 feeds it is a pain to add them since Feedy doesnt support OPML imports or exports for that matter. I opened an OPML file and searched for each and every feed URL. Really! The 2nd oddity I found was that there is no way to search for next unread article. Some of my feeds are not in folders and there is a blue dot next to "Stories" but the unread article is nowhere in sight. Scrolling a lot (I have > 50 feeds) the unread article did not appear. Where is it? The workaround is to go to the Feeds folder and look at the list of feeds. The feed with the unread article, scroll scroll, is the one with the unread number to the right. Turned out that it was just a Tornado Watch in another state. I confess Feedy, I really didnt care about that and you were right. I will say the app looks nice, and I added a bunch of keywords to help with its internal rating feature. I have no idea if thats working. At least I like the app icon and the overall look and feel. I hope the developer will add the find next unread feature with a keyboard interface like n for next or maybe ->. Better yet, make the keyboard commands configurable please! Im gonna stick with this for awhile and see if I can adjust to this app.

Almost There

There are so many features that are almost there but in the end are thwarted by either lack of exposed depth or bugs. Pros: • Doesnt require Google Reader (though import would have been very helpful). • Readability integration works wil 90% of the time. • Ability to change font and font size is good for my aging eyes. • Best popularity index of all the RSS readers I have tried. Cons: • Cant see the actual popularity rankings. • Unable to set a threshold for popular stories. • Preload of web content on the web-tab is okay but would like to see an option to turn this off as I have encountered several cases where embedded video starts playing from advertisements on the web tab, even when you havent chosen it. • No OPML Import (this is a must have for any rss reader these days). • Absolutely no integration with apps like Pocket, Instapaper, or sending links to Pinboard, etc. Bugs: • Cant mark all items as read when inside a folder. • Crashes on me at least 4 or 5 times a week, something other Krillaps dont do.

Fails every single time :(

Every click on any article crashing this reader. I have sent crash logs and all info to the authors, but looks like support just doesnt exsist – no answers, no fixes for me, nothing.

No so bad

App looks great but I want to open article in default browser after the click on it instead of right click -> open in browser. Really anoying…

No Import or link to other readers

URLs are not always recognized. Dont waste your money

A wonderful reader

What I like most is that you are absolutely not attached to any web service. All the subscriptions and folders are stored locally. When Google Reader was closed, a lot of users and developers (making GReader-compatible apps) faced a problem - what to do, what service to use. I believe, Feedy developers have chosen the right way. The app itself is super easy to use and the design is merely gorgeous. Thanks for making a beautiful, fast and clean app that does it job perfectly.

Less than useful if youre coming from Google Reader

Lack of integration with existing feed subscription site, and there is no way to import/export opml file. If you have no mobile device but your Mac, Feedy is perfect for you. Maybe makes the app be able to pick up feeds from your browsers? This can be a very useful function. Before they integrate Feedly in their app, I am setting aside this app for the time being.
